José Luís Centella – Secretary General of the Communist Party of Spain
Mario Franssen – representative of the World Peace Council
Representative of “Féderation International des Résistants”
The press conference precedes a GUE/NGL hearing aiming to highlight that 70 years after the end of WW II many countries in Europe face the growing influence of extreme right, fascist and neo-Nazi organizations, in particular Ukraine. The dangers of the deepening and/or expansion of the Ukrainian conflict or other wars will also be discussed. The Ukrainian situation is taken as an example of where there are limitations to freedom and where political persecution exists and the link with political and economic developments in Ukraine as well as in other European countries.
