Transnational feminist solidarity: Left co-president Manon Aubry (La France insoumise, France) delivers abortion pills to Polish activists.

In the face of a growing conservative backlash against women’s rights across Europe, Left co-president Manon Aubry together with Mathilde Panot (President of La France Insoumise’ group in the French Assembly) travelled to Warsaw to deliver around 300 abortion and emergency contraceptive pills to Polish feminist activists. This is a direct gesture of internationalist solidarity with women who are denied their fundamental right to bodily autonomy.

Poland enforces one of the most restrictive abortion laws in Europe. Abortion is only permitted in cases of rape, incest, or life-threatening danger to the mother. Manon Aubry and Mathilde Panot visited the recently established abortion support centre created by the Abortion Dream Team, located symbolically opposite the Polish parliament. This centre serves both as a safe space for those seeking help and as a powerful act of civil disobedience, challenging a system that continues to repress and endanger women.

Left co-President Manon Aubry (La France Insoumise, France) said: “In the face of the reactionary international movement which, whenever it gains power, attacks women’s rights and bodies, we must organise collective and concrete solidarity! I will continue the fight to enshrine the right to abortion in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, so that our fundamental right to freely control our own bodies is never again called into question.”

Where governments retreat, solidarity advances. The Left reaffirms its stance: women’s rights are not negotiable, and must be upheld everywhere. My body, my choice.
