MEPs from across the political spectrum gathered in the European Parliament today with one resounding message: Ceasefire Now.

The urgency of the situation in Gaza demands immediate action.

The European Union’s stance must reflect the gravity of the crisis, with a swift and unequivocal call for a ceasefire.

The death toll, especially among children, is reaching devastating heights and Israel’s far-right government, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, shows no signs of halting the violence, emphasising the need to prevent further escalation.

Regrettably, the European Union’s response has fallen short of its moral duty. Disregarding UN warnings on potential war crimes and the risk of ethnic cleansing, the EU has failed to take a decisive stance in demanding an end to the bloodshed.

As we witness the horrors unfolding, there is a collective responsibility to act against the injustice being committed. The current moment is critical, and the international community cannot claim ignorance. It is imperative that the EU steps up, asserting its influence to address this humanitarian crisis and advocate for an immediate ceasefire and a just and lasting peace in the region.
