From Black Friday to Cyber Monday, unions and civil society in over 30 countries are joining forces under the banner of Make Amazon Pay to demand respect for workers’ rights, climate action, and democratic accountability from the e-commerce behemoth. The Left fully supports this campaign.
Left MEP Li Andersson, Chair of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs: “Jeff Bezos, whose fortune exceeds $160 billion, earns more in a MINUTE than many Amazon workers make in a YEAR. Meanwhile, Amazon continues to dodge billions in taxes globally, fueling inequality and underfunding public services. We must reshape the political rules to rein in Amazon’s unchecked power. It’s time to hold these giants accountable, ensure fair wages for workers, protect the climate and the environment, and restore democratic integrity.”
Left MEP Leila Chaibi, Member of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs: “We fully support the successful Make Amazon Pay campaign led by unions, recognizing it as a powerful movement for fair wages, environmental justice, and corporate accountability. The victory of the workers is our victory, and we stand with them in pushing for systemic change to hold Amazon to account. Amazon doesn’t respect its workers or democratic institutions.”
Every Black Friday deal adds another zero to Jeff Bezos’ fortune. Meanwhile, Amazon’s workers are underpaid, small businesses are crushed, and the planet bears the cost. This system works—for billionaires, not for the people.
From Germany to Japan, Brazil to the United States, the fifth year of Make Amazon Pay is sending a clear message: corporations like Amazon slash prices, but they slash wages, safety standards, and sustainability even harder. The Left stands with those who are making Amazon pay—for workers, for the environment, and for a fairer global economy.
The “Make Amazon Pay” campaign, running from Black Friday (29 November) to Cyber Monday (2 December), is a global movement led by unions, activists, and civil society groups across six continents. The campaign demands that Amazon be held accountable for its treatment of workers, environmental impact, and tax avoidance.
