The President of the European Parliament decided to withdraw tomorrow's vote on Parliament's recommendations on the TTIP negotiations

Considering that this decision has been taken so late, it is obvious that this is not a technical, but a political decision.

This decision was taken after negotiations between the two biggest groups, the EPP and S&D, failed, and just before the meetings of both groups.

This is a victory for the STOP TTIP movement which has succeeded in showing how this project could be damaging for people and for the EU because of the ISDS, because of Regulatory Cooperation and because of the proposal to liberalise services, amongst others.

The GUE/NGL calls for a genuine public consultation on TTIP and on the EU's international trade policy in general. In the meantime, it reiterates its call for the suspension of the TTIP negotiations.
