The GUE/NGL Group in the European Parliament strongly condemns the latest attempted coup attempt and violence by opposition groups in Venezuela, and regrets the loss of life and destruction of public property in the country.

“We likewise denounce the undemocratic and insurgent aims of this destabilisation campaign, unleashed onto the streets of Caracas and other Venezuelan cities by extremist groups. We hold the opposition forces and the Venezuelan right (supported by the U.S with links to the dominant forces in the EU) responsible for these actions and their dire consequences,” said Spanish MEP Willy Meyer, Vice-President of the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly.

“We warn that this wave of subversive violence is taking place at a time when the legitimate authorities of Venezuela are intensifying measures to combat the various forms of speculation and economic warfare affecting the country,” he added.

Meanwhile, Portuguese MEP Inês Zuber, Vice-President of Parliament's Delegation for relations with Central America, reiterated her “condemnation of this latest coup attempt in Venezuela.”

 

“These events reveal the Venezuelan oligarchy's fear that their interests are endangered by the profound economic and social transformations underway and the enduring popular support for the process,” she said. “This change is exemplified by its strong emphasis on solidarity, both national and international, and in Venezuela's role of in the creation and strengthening of a cooperation and integration process for the benefit of the peoples of Latin America.”

The MEPs reiterated their support for, and solidarity with President Nicolás Maduro, the Venezuelan government, and the Venezuelan people.”

 

EL GUE/NGL CONDENA EL NUEVO INTENTO DE GOLPE DE ESTADO EN VENEZUELA

 

El Grupo GUE/NGL del Parlamento Europeo condena enérgicamente el nuevo intento de golpe de Estado en Venezuela y la violencia perpetrada por grupos fascistas de la oposición, así como los actos de violencia y vandalismo en Venezuela y lamenta la pérdida de vidas y destrucción de bienes públicos.

 

“Del mismo modo denunciamos los objetivos antidemocráticos y golpistas de esta campaña desestabilizadora, desencadenada en las calles de Caracas y otras ciudades venezolanas por grupos extremistas de corte fascista. Responsabilizamos a las fuerzas de la oposición y a la derecha venezolana, apoyadas y articuladas por los EEUU, -con vínculos también con las fuerzas dominantes de la UE-, de estas acciones y sus nefastas consecuencias”, ha señalado el eurodiputado español Willy Meyer, vicepresidente de la Asamblea Parlamentaria Euro-Latinoamericana.

 

“Alertamos de que la presente ola de violencia subversiva sucede en un momento en que las autoridades legítimas de Venezuela intensifican las medidas de lucha contra las diversas expresiones de especulación y de guerra económica que afectan al país”, añadió.

 

Por su parte, la eurodiputada portuguesa Inês Zuber, miembro de EuroLat y vicepresidenta de la Delegación para las Relaciones con América Central, reiteró su ” condena de este nuevo intento de golpe en Venezuela, hecho que demuestra la desesperación de la oligarquía venezolana y de sus aliados internacionales, que ven en peligro sus intereses a causa de las profundas transformaciones económicas y sociales en marcha y el apoyo continuo del pueblo al proceso. Una situación que tiene reflejo en su dimensión solidaria e internacional, en el papel de Venezuela en la creación y fortalecimiento de los procesos de cooperación e integración favorables a los pueblos de América Latina”.

 

Los eurodiputados del GUE/NGL reiteraron “su apoyo al Presidente Nicolás Maduro y al Gobierno constitucional de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela”, reafirmando su “solidaridad de siempre con las fuerzas bolivarianas y del pueblo venezolano”.
