The Communication REPowerEU published by the European Commision puts forward a set of limited and circumscribed measures without tackling the structural issues in the EU energy market. 

This technical briefing outlines an analysis of the Communication highlighting the Commission’s obstinate defence of the energy marginalistic market.  To achieve energy independence and sovereignty there is only one solution: a fair energy system based on renewables and under public control. However, this requires the political will to admit that people’s interests come before big business profits. This is why our MEPs called on the European Parliament to “change the rules of the market to ensure an energy model that serves people and our planet”.
