Cypriot MEP Takis Hadjigeorgiou has just left for Ankara to take part in the 76th EU-TURKEY Joint Parliamentary Committee meeting (19-20 March).

Hadjigeorgiou, Vice Chair of the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), will lead discussions on the state of play in the accession negotiations between the EU and Turkey, and the fight against racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia and all other forms of discrimination.

Also on the agenda are talks on media freedom, Turkey-EU Foreign Policy Cooperation, the Turkey-EU Customs Union, free trade agreements – with particular emphasis on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).
