Future of Europe debate
Debate: Tuesday
Vote: Aucun
As GUE/NGL, we stand firm against the neoliberal austerity policies imposed upon our citizens. We will continue our struggle for fair and social wealth redistribution, for workers’ rights, for social progress and social prosperity. We will fight against a militarised EU; against racism, xenophobia, and neo-fascism which is rearing its ugly head again in Europe. We want a peaceful and respectful Europe, based on the solidarity and the co-existence of its people.

Current human rights situation in Turkey & situation in Afrin
Debate: Tuesday
Vote: Thursday
Two-and-a-half years since the coup d’état, Turkey is still under a state of emergency and that is unacceptable. It’s being used by President Erdoğan as a way to gain full control of Turkish society. Politically motivated trials and the imprisonment of journalists threaten to undermine the full functioning of a democratic society. We therefore express our support for all those in Turkey who are being oppressed. We also strongly condemn the Turkish invasion in Syria, and express our solidarity with the Syrian people and the Kurds in both Syria and Turkey who are being threatened by the Turkish government.

European Commissioners standing in EU elections
Debate: Wednesday
Vote: Wednesday
According to Article 17(3) in the Treaty on European Union, members of the Commission should be chosen from persons whose independence is beyond doubt. By endorsing the proposals that allow Commissioners to participate in the European elections without being obliged to take unpaid electoral leave, this AFCO report raises crucial questions as far as the principle of independence is concerned and runs the risk of conflicts of interests.

Women human rights defenders
Debate: Wednesday
Vote: Aucun
By denying asylum seekers international protection and also closing its borders, the EU is cosying up to authoritarian regimes and is hurtling towards a militarised superunion. Instead, it should guarantee safe and legal ways to Europe and step up its efforts to support and promote human rights defenders - including women human rights defenders - all around the world in their struggle to achieve democracy, women’s rights and rule of law in their countries.

Guarantee Fund for EEAS and EIB
Debate: Wednesday
Vote: Thursday
These two Guarantee Funds are closely aligned with an ambitious project that would turn the European Development Cooperation strategy in Neighbourhood countries into an instrument of control for migration flows. But we say: stop exploiting third countries! The help provided should come from local communities. We need a new strategy to deal with forced migration: combating the root causes of inequalities, deprivation, climate change, plus the fight over scarce resources and social discrimination.

Glyphosate special committee
Debate: Tuesday
Vote: Thursday
Glyphosate has become the symbol of everything that is wrong with the EU: putting multinationals and money before our health and the environment. With a special committee, we can expose the industry’s manipulation, uncover the failures of the EFSA and to tackle the loopholes in our legislation. This special committee can provide all the transparency that EU citizens demand and deserve.
