A statement from GUE/NGL President Gabi Zimmer MEP on the tragic events at Istanbul on New Year’s Eve.

“We utterly condemn the heinous act of murder at the Istanbul nightclub on New Year’s Eve.” 

“We mourn the victims and send our deepest condolences to their families and those affected by this tragedy. 

“There is and never will be any justification to such brutal acts of violence on innocent victims. Terrorism has no place in our society. With this tragic start to the year 2017, we reaffirm our solidarity with the people of Turkey and vow to do all we can to fight the scourge of terrorism together.”
