MEPs and trade unionists will discuss policy and practical ways to advance workers struggles in Europe and strengthen solidarity at a joint GUE/NGL – TUNE (Trade Unionists Network Europe) conference this Wednesday and Thursday (27-28/9) at the European Parliament in Brussels.

The sessions will tackle the most pressing issues for workers at the European level and highlight local struggles for rights and fair working conditions at a time when a future vision for Europe is under intense debate across the EU.

Workers will give their perspectives and state their demands about issues such as the European Pillar of Social Rights, trade union responses to precarious work, social protection and the right to strike and collective bargaining.

On Thursday afternoon GUE/NGL MEPs and trade unionists will hear from a representative of workers from Amazon about their ongoing struggle against precarious working conditions. A trade unionist from Serbia will share experiences from the successful wave of strikes in the Kragujevac FIAT factory last summer, which resulted in a 10 percent pay rise for its workers.

The full programme can be found here.

Please write to Karola Boger ([email protected]) to confirm your registration.

The GUE/NGL Communications Unit will be pleased to facilitate interviews with conference participants and supply journalists with photographs and video footage of the event. The event will be live streamed on this page.
